How do I know if I am a suitable candidate for surgery?
Suitability for surgery is determined through a medical assessment and surgical recommendation.
During the consultation process you will be asked to provide medical history, current medications, and photographs for the surgeon to review. The surgeon will then determine whether you are a suitable candidate and recommend the most appropriate procedure.
What should I do to prepare for surgery?
Proper preparation is important to ensure a safe procedure and smooth recovery.
Before surgery you may be asked to:

What are the standards of the hospitals?
Our partner hospitals, including PPSI in Phuket, BIMC in Bali, and RSIA Bali Royal Hospital, are accredited and operate to the highest standards of patient safety and care.
These hospitals adhere to strict medical protocols, utilise modern technology and equipment, and maintain standards comparable to leading hospitals worldwide.
What qualifications does my surgeon have?
We work exclusively with board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons who have completed extensive specialist training, often including an additional six years of surgical education.
Our surgeons are internationally respected, experienced in performing cosmetic procedures for international patients, and are active members of recognised medical associations.
When do I meet my surgeon?
You will have a face-to-face consultation with your surgeon 1–3 days prior to surgery to review and confirm the surgical plan.
Importantly, you do not pay the hospital for your surgery until after this consultation, ensuring you feel completely comfortable before proceeding.
Online consultations are also available prior to travel if requested.
What type of implants do you use?
We use premium, high-quality implant brands such as Mentor and Motiva, which often come with 10-year or lifetime structural warranties.
Your surgeon will recommend the implant type, size and profile best suited to your body and desired outcome.
Is it safe to have surgery overseas?
Patient safety is our highest priority. We partner only with accredited hospitals and highly experienced, board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeons.

Will there be visible scars?
All surgical procedures result in some degree of scarring. However, our surgeons are highly experienced in placing incisions in discreet locations where scars can be easily concealed.
Over time, scars typically fade and become less noticeable. Your surgeon and care team will provide guidance on scar management and healing to help achieve the best possible outcome.
Are results guaranteed?
Every surgical procedure is unique, and results can vary from person to person depending on factors such as anatomy, healing ability, lifestyle and adherence to post-operative instructions.
While our surgeons are highly experienced and aim to achieve the best possible outcome, no medical or surgical procedure can guarantee a specific result.
Your surgeon will discuss realistic expectations with you during your consultation to ensure you understand the potential outcomes of your procedure.
Recovery & Support
What is the required stay for surgery and recovery?
Most procedures require a stay of approximately 7 to 14 days, although more complex procedures may require a longer recovery period.
Your surgeon will provide a personalised recommendation so you can plan the appropriate length of stay.
Will I have support abroad?
Yes, absolutely. We provide full support throughout your journey.
Our service includes airport, hotel and hospital transfers. In both Phuket and Bali, a dedicated Client Care Manager will meet you at the hospital, assist with your discharge, and coordinate your follow-up appointments.
What happens if I have a concern when I arrive home?
RBG will remain your primary point of contact should you have any concerns after returning home.
We will assist you in communicating with the hospital and surgeon if needed. Our partner hospitals also have specialised post-operative committees that review cases and provide feedback or guidance when required.
If you experience a medical emergency, you should contact your nearest emergency department immediately.
What is Post-Operative Care?
Your recovery is just as important as your surgery. Proper post-operative care helps ensure the best possible results and reduces the risk of complications.
During your recovery period you may be advised to:
- Wear your compression garment as instructed
- Rest and avoid strenuous activities
- Attend scheduled follow-up appointments
- Keep incision areas clean and dry
- Stay hydrated and eat nutritious foods to support healing
- Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and strenuous exercise until cleared by your surgeon
Our team and the hospital staff will provide detailed aftercare instructions specific to your procedure. We will also remain available to assist with any questions and support you throughout your recovery journey.
Every individual heals differently, so it is important to follow your surgeon’s advice and allow your body adequate time to recover.
How long do I wear my post-operative garments?
After many cosmetic procedures, your surgeon will recommend wearing a post-operative compression garment. These specialised garments provide gentle pressure to the surgical area to support healing and improve comfort during recovery.
Compression garments help to:
- Reduce swelling and bruising
- Support the treated area while tissues heal
- Improve blood circulation

Most clients are required to wear their garment continuously for the first few weeks after surgery, removing it only briefly for showering.
Depending on your procedure and your surgeon’s recommendation, compression garments are typically worn for 6–8 weeks during recovery.
What happens if there is a complication after surgery?
Although complications are uncommon, it is important to understand that all surgery carries some level of risk.
Our partner hospitals have experienced surgeons and strict medical protocols in place to minimise risks. If a complication occurs while you are overseas, the hospital and surgeon will provide the necessary medical care and support.
If concerns arise once you return home, RBG will assist you in communicating with the surgeon and hospital to ensure appropriate advice and follow-up care is provided. In the case of a medical emergency, you should always contact your nearest emergency department.
When can I fly home after surgery?
Most procedures require clients to remain in the destination country for 7 - 14 days to allow for initial recovery, follow-up appointments and surgeon clearance to travel.
Your surgeon will advise the appropriate time for you to safely fly home based on your procedure and individual recovery progress.
What happens if I require revision surgery?
In some cases, revision surgery may be required due to healing variations, individual anatomy, or other factors.
The surgeon assesses each case individually. If revision surgery is recommended, the hospital will provide guidance on the appropriate timing and available options.
Please note that revision policies vary between surgeons and hospitals, and additional hospital or anaesthetic fees may apply.
Our team will assist you in communicating with the hospital and surgeon if any concerns arise.
Travel & Accommodation
Do you arrange accommodation packages?
Yes. We offer accommodation options at carefully selected resorts in Phuket and Bali, chosen for their comfort, convenience and suitability for post-surgery recovery.
Are transfers included?
Yes. All essential transfers are included in our packages, including airport, hotel and hospital transfers, ensuring your experience is smooth and stress-free.
What is individual vs. group travel?
Individual Travel:
You may travel at any time that suits you, either
alone or with a companion.
Group Travel:
You travel on scheduled dates with other RBG patients and
are accompanied by an RBG team member. This option is ideal for those travelling alone who
would like additional support.
Can my partner travel with me?
Yes. A travel companion is welcome.
Your companion may stay with you in the hospital at no extra cost (a sofa bed is typically provided), and they may also join your scheduled transfers.
Where is the best area to stay?
Bali: Nusa Dua is typically recommended as it is close to BIMC Hospital, although Kuta and Seminyak are also convenient locations. For Royal Cosmetic Centre at RSIA Bali Royal Hospital we recommend Sanur, Seminyak or Legian.
Phuket: Patong Beach, Kata Beach, and Karon Beach are commonly recommended due to their proximity to PPSI.
Can I travel alone for surgery?
Yes, many of our clients travel alone.
Our team provides support throughout your journey, including airport transfers, hospital assistance and local client care managers who will help coordinate your appointments and recovery.
You may also choose to join one of our escorted group trips, which allows you to travel with other clients and an RBG team member for additional support.
Finance & Insurance
Do you provide payment plan options?
Yes. We partner with Total Lifestyle Credit (TLC), which can provide funding of up to $50,000, subject to approval.
You can apply for a free quote to explore available payment options.
Do you offer medical travel cover?
We strongly encourage all clients to obtain Medical Tourism Insurance, specifically designed for patients travelling overseas for surgery.
This specialised policy combines medical and travel insurance, providing valuable peace of mind should any unexpected complications or travel disruptions occur.
Key benefits include:
- Coverage for up to four procedures
- Cover valid for up to 180 days following surgery
- Coverage for post-surgical complications treated either overseas or once you return home
- Optional cover for a travel companion
What is included in the surgery quote?
Your surgical recommendation will outline all inclusions clearly so you understand exactly what is covered.
Typical inclusions may include:
- Surgeon fees
- Hospital and operating theatre fees

- Hospital stay
- Essential transfers (airport, hotel and hospital)
- Support from our local client care managers
Flights, accommodation and travel insurance are generally not included unless specified.
