Being in my mid 50’s, living in a harsh tropical environment for many years coupled with three kids, years of study and working full time professionally for 38 years, I was beginning to look very tired . I had thought about a face lift and had investigated the possibility in Australia three years earlier however, I could not justify the cost of over $30,000

In late 2010, I had been talking about the possibility of a face life with my young hairdresser who told me she had had her breast enlarged through Restored Beauty Getaways and was very happy with the results and care she had received. She gave me the phone number of RBG and I decided to make contact. I sent information and photos to Trish for a number of months while I prepared myself for the possibility of it becoming a reality. One day in early January 2011, I decided it was now or never as I was very fit and thought that surgery in my 50’s was better than leaving it another couple of years. I thought it was especially good as I had been in menopause for about 4 years. We picked July to go to Phuket as it was there “wet season” and accommodation was cheap and it was not the high tourist season. We decided to spend two weeks in Thailand and then I would take another 2 weeks at home recovering from swelling and bruising before returning to work. My family were nervous about what I was planning, and my eldest daughter decided she would accompany me to ensure that all went well. In hindsight, I was very grateful that she came as she most helpful, especially in the first week when you feel very vulnerable after major surgery and the body is recovering from a general anaesthetic as well as bruising and swelling.

We booked 10 days accommodation at the Diamond Cliff Resort in Phuket, a quieter part of Phuket after being discharged from hospital. When we arrived into Phuket from Singapore we were met at the airport and driven in a private car to Bangkok Hospital Phuket. We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon and surgery was scheduled for the following day. Upon arrival the intake process was highly organised and we were taken to a double suite (my daughter also stayed in the same room) the room was immaculate, clean and large with two showers, two TV’s , a self-contained kitchenette and dining table. The nursing staff settled us in and reassured us re any questions we had. The intake procedure was thorough: re fitness and blood tests and a pre surgery meeting with Dr Piyapas.

Dr, Piyapas, answered all my questions and his calm, caring and reassuring manner put my mind at ease as to what I was about to undertake. I also received a visit from the anaesthetist and the physiotherapist prior to surgery. The procedure from admission to discharge was incredibly organised, professional, attention to detail, clean and caring. I thought I was dreaming and have never experienced such care in my life (and I used to be a nurse in my earlier life). Everything flowed from the moment I made contact with Trish at Restored Beauty Getaways to the moment we landed in Phuket, to pre and post-surgery care, to medications, to the moment we left the Phuket Airport.

Surgery took place on the Monday afternoon. The care I received from Dr Piyapas and the nursing staff was exceptional and I felt safe, calm, trusting and valued as a patient. This is very important when you are far away from home. We stayed in Bangkok Hospital Phuket for 4 nights before checking out to the hotel. During the next 10 days at the hotel, I rested and followed all procedures from the initial ice packs (to reduce swelling) to warm packs. Every second day we were picked up from the hotel and taken to Bangkok Hospital Phuket for check ups with the nurses and Dr Piyapas, and returned to our hotel. We were there and back in two hours. Dr Piyapas, the nursing staff and drivers were all outstanding in the service they provided to me and I would be happy to talk to anyone who is considering doing the same. I am very happy with the results.
