I had always had good eyesight until I started wearing reading glasses 9 years ago. Since then I have gradually required a higher strength, even needing a higher strength late afternoon after being on the computer all day.
Tired of the frustration of not being able to walk into a grocery store & read labels without fishing for my glasses, not being able to pick up a magazine or read a restaurant menu etc., I decided to research more about this surgery.
In New Zealand I was told it was not possible to reverse 'old age' eyesight. I am living proof that it is !
I am currently on Warfarin (blood thinner) for a blood clotting condition so I had to stop the medication 4 days before surgery. Not wanting to fly without the medication, I took my last tablet the day of the flight from Auckland.

Dr Somchai and his team were fabulous. After testing & x- rays, they explained the procedure and what to expect before, during and after surgery.

The procedure was done by local anaesthetic so my biggest fear was that I would move (Although with the way my eyelids were taped, there was little chance of that.)

After one eye was completed, Dr Somchai checked my vision & decided it was good to continue.

Being wheeled out of surgery I was stunned - I could read my hospital bracelet unaided!
On returning to my room I picked up the complimentary shampoo bottle - not only could I read what it was, I could read the tiny writing on the back. !!!
Now to the mirror to see the signs of surgery - there were none - but I could see so clearly.
That night and outside for the next few days I wore those UV glasses to protect my eyes.

The next morning when Dr Somchai visited, I was already on my computer without glasses !

Yes that is Pattaya's skyline in the background - this was the stunning view from my huge room

Loving my new vision, I left the hospital & spent time shopping, sightseeing and even cooling off in the pool (without my head under of course.)
Now that I am home, I still marvel at the difference it has made to my daily life.
The first month my intermediate vision was not as sharp as my short or long vision (but this was to be expected). At night time there are halos around the lights (again to be expected and it improves as the weeks go by.)
I cannot explain the freedom.
I no longer have to have my glasses on to apply make-up, read to my grandchildren or work on the computer. Even in the restaurants with dim lighting, I can read a menu with ease.
The only glasses I now pick up are sunglasses. I JUST LOVE IT !!!
